We named this necklace “Tsarivna” because it is the kind of piece a real princess would have worn. Archaeological findings show that carnelian has been worn by high-status individuals—nobles and priests—since ancient times. This mineral dates back to the Neolithic era and is often discovered in burials alongside rulers and prominent figures, highlighting its exceptional status.
Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony featuring warm shades of deep red and orange. In historical jewelry, it symbolized refined taste, strength, and protection. The lunulae adorning the necklace were popular women’s ornaments among Slavic peoples, particularly in Kyivan Rus. They were worn as part of necklaces, earrings, or headwear, and various stylized forms of this symbol are still used in modern designs.
The combination of oval carnelian, brass lunulae, and perelyzhky creates a layered composition with a historical echo. This piece seems to transport us to ancient times while remaining relevant today, emphasizing the elegance and uniqueness of its wearer.
Necklace length – 44 cm.
