My name is Polina Stern. The SHTERNO brand was founded in July 2022, although I have been creating jewelry since 2009, and in 2018 I launched my first fantasy jewelry brand.

Shterno is a star that reveals the powerful energy of radiance, beginning at its core—the flower of life. It fills both the soul and body and is reflected in dreams and actions. I want every piece of jewelry to remind us that the power of radiance lives within each of us and must be nurtured.

The name originated from the Hutsul term “shterno,” which refers to a star-like element in carving, embroidery, and pysanky. It was in a mountain village in the Hutsul region that I began creating these pieces, discovering the rich history of Ukrainian jewelry.

The philosophy behind my jewelry is simple: they are magical objects that bestow the wearer with a source of radiance. With the jewelry you wear, one can recognize the person and understand that they belong to your tribe. By choosing certain pieces, you declare, “I belong to this kind; I have these roots.”

Every piece is handcrafted from ready-made parts and beads. I work with pendants crafted by Ukrainian metalwork masters—“mosyazhnyks”—and jewelers—“zolotarys.” In the “Available Necklaces” category, pieces are shipped within 1–3 days. Jewelry marked “Made to Order” is created for you within 3–4 weeks, with exclusive details added, as it is impossible to produce an exact copy of each piece.
