What is a "shelesty" necklace? It is an authentic Hutsul necklace worn by young girls, who layered jewelry to show they were "of marriageable age." They layered "luskavky" (necklaces made of artificial pearls or glass beads), "sylianky" (beadwork), and added necklaces with bells, which received this melodic name from their rustling sound.

"Shelesty" necklaces are created by "mosiazhnyky" (brass artisans). Traditionally, these are bells made of brass with a metal ball inside, decorated with ornaments. "Shelesty" were made as single-strand or multi-strand necklaces, woven entirely on a metal wire, often with "perelizhky" (spacer) elements.

This necklace gets a contemporary feel when paired with Kosiv ceramics or natural stones. We also use bells in the shape of little birds and various animals. Additionally, we add modern materials, like glass beads in the shape of berries—we experiment with designs and popularize Ukrainian heritage.

We work with ceramic artisans from Kosiv, creating necklaces that can be purchased from our available selection, or we can create a custom piece to order.
