This lavish two-strand necklace from the "Podillia" collection is made of incredibly beautiful Mexican agate, whose stones resemble the rock formations of the Dniester canyons. The Lunula and Bereginya pendants are dedicated to those who inhabited these territories since ancient times and passed down these symbols to us. By using pendants with them in our jewelry, we support the continuity of generations and offer our own interpretation of this story, relevant for today.
Materials: Mexican agate, jasper, tourmaline, garnet, brass pendants.
Mexican agate is often called "lace" or Crazy Lace Agate due to its complex and chaotic patterns. It is a variety of the mineral chalcedony with a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, making it resistant to damage and suitable for daily wear.
Jasper is an opaque variety of chalcedony, distinguished by rich red and reddish-brown hues caused by a high content of iron oxide. Natural patterns and stripes add special beauty to the beads.
The name tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese word turmali, which means "stone that attracts ash." This name points to its ability to become electrified when heated or rubbed, attracting small particles. One of the most unique features of tourmaline is its ability to form crystals with several different colors in a single specimen. The wide palette of this mineral makes it one of the most colorful minerals on Earth.
Garnet is a mineral from the silicate group that gets its rich red-burgundy color from a high content of iron and aluminum. This stone has been known since ancient times: in Ancient Egypt, it was used to inlay the jewelry of pharaohs, in the Middle Ages, garnet was popular among knights as a symbol of courage, and in Ukraine, it was found in the princely treasures of Kyivan Rus'.
A lunula is a traditional female amulet that was popular in Slavic cultures. Its crescent shape symbolizes a connection to natural cycles and female energy. In Kyivan Rus', lunulae were worn as pendants on necklaces, earrings, or as elements of headdresses, and their discovery during archaeological excavations confirms the long tradition of this symbol on the territory of Ukraine.
A bereginya is an ancient female amulet that embodies protection, fertility, and a connection with ancestors. The symbolism of the bereginya with a "sown field" on the pendant is deeply rooted in Ukrainian tradition and is found in embroidery and ancient ornaments.
The length of the necklace is 35-38 cm, the braids are 25 cm. This allows you to adjust the length and height of the necklace when used with other jewelry.
