This two-strand necklace is part of the "Carpatian" collection, dedicated to our mountains, lakes, forests, and even volcanoes. It's a collection where natural landscapes are painted with stones. The necklace is inspired by memories of a hike to Lake Nesamovyte and the incredible views of that area. To portray these natural scenes with stones, we used light green onyx and green serpentine to represent the grasses and trees, blue kyanite for the lake's surface, and pink tourmaline for the Ivan-chai flowers. The central pendant, "Solntsesvit," symbolizes the dance of the elements, their untamed energy, and the fleeting changes in mountain weather.
Materials: onyx, mother-of-pearl, tourmaline, serpentine, kyanite, brass beads.
Onyx is a type of chalcedony that forms in layers of silicon minerals, giving it a unique texture and color depth. It has long been valued worldwide for its durability, unique patterns, and broad applications in decorative arts. Green onyx is considered a symbol of harmony and inner peace, and its natural iridescence adds sophistication and elegance to the jewelry.
Serpentine got its name from the pattern on its surface, which resembles snake skin. Serpentine is a group of minerals, not a single one. Its color ranges from yellow-green to dark green, sometimes with white, black, or red inclusions.
Mother-of-pearl is a natural material that forms inside mollusks and is known for its soft glow and iridescent texture. Due to its natural properties, it has long been used to create amulets, jewelry, and clothing elements. In many cultures, mother-of-pearl was considered a symbol of harmony, peace, and protection.
The name kyanite comes from the Greek word kyanos, which means "blue," as the most common color of this mineral is a rich blue. Kyanite has a unique property known as hardness anisotropy. Its hardness on the Mohs scale varies significantly depending on the direction: it is 4.5–5.5 along the crystal and 6.5–7 across it, making it difficult to work with.
The name tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese word turmali, which means "stone that attracts ash." This name indicates its ability to become electrified when heated or rubbed, attracting small particles. One of tourmaline's most unique features is its ability to form crystals with several different colors in a single specimen. For example, "watermelon" tourmaline has a pink core, a white band, and a green rind, resembling a slice of watermelon. The wide range of varieties of this mineral makes it one of the most colorful minerals on Earth.
