This lavish two-row wedding necklace delights with a harmonious combination and play of textures of white oval mother-of-pearl, faceted red jasper beads, and the glossy shine of brass pendants. Mother-of-pearl is a natural material that forms inside mollusks and is known for its soft luster and iridescent texture. Thanks to its natural properties, it has long been used to create amulets, jewelry, and elements of clothing. In many cultures, mother-of-pearl was considered a symbol of harmony, peace, and protection.
Red jasper is an opaque variety of chalcedony, distinguished by its rich red and reddish-brown hues caused by a high content of iron oxide. Natural patterns and stripes add a special beauty to the beads.
The main pendant, the dukach yahnusok, is a modern stylization of traditional Ukrainian dukaches, handmade from brass. It is believed that the veneration of the cult of the heart came to Ukraine from Western Europe. The image of the heart on Ukrainian religious and cult objects, including various medallions, became very widespread. Gradually, medallions in the shape of hearts began to be used in dukaches. The most common dukaches with heart-shaped medallions were in the Sloboda Ukraine region—Kharkiv, Kursk, and Voronezh regions.
The necklace length is 42 cm, and an extension chain with the signature SHTERNO logo adds a few extra centimeters.
