This necklace intertwines ancient Hutsul traditions with the elegance of natural materials. Its central element is a brass pendant in the shape of a "syrnyi konyk" (cheese horse), crafted by Hutsul masters of metalwork. This symbol is inspired by traditional cheese figurines, which shepherds used to shape from sheep’s or cow’s milk cheese. These small horses served as protective amulets, symbolizing strength, endurance, and prosperity, and were often given as wedding and festive gifts.
The beads are made of white mother-of-pearl, reminiscent of the traditional balamut – a precious material used in Ukrainian jewelry. Formed from fossilized mother-of-pearl, balamut was highly valued for its natural beauty and durability. It was especially widespread in Podillia, where it was used to create exquisite women's adornments. The soft iridescence of the mother-of-pearl highlights the necklace’s elegance, adding to its authenticity. Combined with brass, it forms a harmonious composition that echoes traditional Hutsul craftsmanship.
Necklace length – 42 cm, with an adjustable extension chain featuring the SHTERNO signature logo for additional length.
