This elegant necklace features multicolored faceted tourmaline beads paired with a minimalist brass Lunnitsa (crescent) pendant. The Lunnitsa is an ancient feminine amulet, symbolizing the moon and the profound connection to natural cycles.
The delicate floral pattern on the pendant is known as the Hromnyk (or "Flower of Life"). In Hutsul tradition, it represents life, vital energy, and the sacred unity of all living things. The shimmering, multi-hued tourmaline creates a vibrant and ever-changing backdrop for this symbolic brass centerpiece. Whether for daily wear or a special occasion, this piece adds a touch of historical grace to any ensemble.
Materials & Symbolism
Tourmaline: The name originates from the Sinhalese word "turmali", meaning "the stone that attracts ash." This refers to its pyroelectric property—the ability to generate an electrical charge when heated or rubbed. Tourmaline is famous for its incredible color variety; for instance, "watermelon" tourmaline features a pink core, a white ring, and a green outer layer. It is truly one of the most colorful minerals on Earth.
The Lunnitsa: A traditional feminine talisman popular across Slavic cultures. Its crescent shape embodies feminine energy and the rhythms of nature. In the era of Kyivan Rus', Lunnitsas were commonly worn as necklaces, earrings, or headpiece ornaments. Archaeological finds across Ukraine confirm the long-standing tradition of this powerful symbol.
Handcrafted Brass: The pendant is made from brass, designed to complement the gemstone's brilliance with its warm, vintage glow.
Materials: Tourmaline, brass pendant.
Bead Sizes: Faceted tourmaline (3 mm and 2 mm).
Pendant Size: Lunnitsa — 19 mm (height) x 17 mm (width).
