Stones / Inserts: Coral is an organic material formed from the calcium carbonate skeletons of marine polyps. In modern jewelry, pressed and toned coral is often used to achieve the desired rich orange-red color, as natural, untoned coral is very rare and considered a precious stone. It has a matte or vitreous luster after polishing and a relatively low hardness (3-4 on the Mohs scale).
